Privacy Policy

Your data belongs to you.
That's not a slogan — it's the rule BettyBloom was built on.

1 The most important thing

You control your data.

Nothing is shared with anyone unless you choose to share it
Your journal and private notes are private by default — you can choose to share your journal with your partner, but it stays private unless you explicitly enable it
Your partner sees only what you allow
Admins see aggregated numbers, never your personal entries

2 What we collect

We collect only what you choose to give us. Here's the full list:

Account information

Your email address
Your name or nickname
Your password (encrypted — we never see it)
Optional: profile picture

Cycle information

Period dates you log
Flow levels
Cycle length settings
Ovulation and fertility estimates (calculated from your data)

Wellness information

Moods and their intensity
Symptoms you record
Sleep hours, water intake, movement, energy
Optional: weight, stress, appetite
Basal body temperature (if you use it)

Personal information

Journal entries (private by default)
Private notes (private by default)
Sex drive records (private by default)

Pregnancy information

Pregnancy start date
Due date
Weekly tracking (if you enable Pregnancy Mode)

Partner information

Partner connection status
Sharing permissions you set
If you invite a partner, we store their email or code

Technical information

Device type (mobile / tablet / desktop)
Pages visited (to understand how the app is used)
IP address (hashed — not stored raw)
Session timestamps

We do not collect:

Your location (unless you explicitly allow it in future versions)
Your contacts
Your photos (except the profile picture you choose to upload)
Any data from your phone outside the app

3 Why we collect it

Every piece of data we collect serves a specific purpose:

We do not use your data to show you ads. We do not sell it. We do not share it with third parties for marketing.

Your partner sees only what you enable, category by category. Admins see only aggregated statistics — never your personal health entries.

5 How your data is protected

We take security seriously:

Passwords are stored using industry-standard hashing — we cannot read them
Sessions are encrypted and expire automatically
Permissions are enforced on our servers — not hidden with CSS or JavaScript
Admin access is separate, logged, and limited to what's needed to run the app
Sensitive data is transmitted over HTTPS only

We follow the Ghana Data Protection Act and design to GDPR principles where applicable.

6 How long we keep your data

Active accounts: as long as you use BettyBloom
Deleted accounts: removed from active systems immediately; residual backups cleared within 30 days
Page visits: automatically deleted after 30 days
Notifications: automatically deleted after 30 days
Admin audit logs: kept for security purposes, up to 12 months

You can request a full data export or deletion from your Privacy Center at any time.

7 Your rights

You have the right to:

Access — see everything we know about you
Export — download a copy of your data
Delete — remove individual records or your entire account
Correct — fix inaccurate information
Withdraw consent — turn off partner sharing, notifications, or any other feature
Complain — contact us, or the Ghana Data Protection Commission

We respond to all data requests within 30 days.

8 Children and young users

BettyBloom is available to users 13 years and older. Users between 13 and 17 must have a parent or legal guardian who is aware of and consents to their use of the app.

Parents and guardians: if you believe your child has signed up without your awareness, or you would like to review or close their account, please contact us at bettybloomapp@gmail.com. We will respond promptly.

If we learn that a child under 13 has created an account, we will delete it and all associated data.

9 Partner data

If you invite a partner, we store:

Their email or invitation code
The connection status (pending, active, revoked)
The permissions you set for them

If you revoke access, your partner's access ends immediately. Their own account (if they have one) remains separate, and we do not share your data with them any further.

10 Changes to this policy

If we update this policy:

We'll change the date at the top
For significant changes, we'll notify you inside the app
